A micro press · Claverack, New York
The edges of the imagination.
We publish creative writers whose talents have yet to be recognized — poetry, essays, and fiction that explore the edges of the imagination, where the wonders of science and art are likely to meet.
New — July 17, 2026
Three new collections
Two companion volumes from David Bettencourt and a fearless debut from Rose Sharon, arriving the week of the festival.
About the press
A micro press in the Hudson Valley
Scientists and Poets is based in Claverack, New York, and was founded by Kim Barke — a poet and scientist herself, which explains the name. We publish small, carefully made editions: twelve books so far, from debut poetry collections to essays to one absurdist novelette.
Beyond the books, we sponsor readings and events — including the New York City Poetry Festival — and publish an occasional newsletter you can join below.
The newsletter
Dispatches from the press
New books, readings, and festival news — a few times a year, no clutter. Signing up here subscribes you directly to our Substack.
